THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

My musical journey with ministry and worship songs has always been through the close spiritual and family relationship I have with my Mum who is a gifted composer and worship leader. I have come to creative ministry with different gifts of singing, communication, prophetic poetry and visual arts…. all of which marry together within this mother and daughter collaborative.

As such I am often communicating songs which I haven’t penned myself, but for which I have been intrinsic in the journey that has led to the place where the heart of the lyrics lie. The songs have to be true for me also, and be part of my reality to be able to communicate them in the anointing of the Spirit, and with emotional connection.

So, this song was born after Mum prayed for many years that she would set Psalm 91 to music…… and so at the time of coming through a profound wilderness experience, the song came. When all seems against you and fear beckons, when all you can do amidst turmoil and adversity is stand  - then these words of Scripture are the ultimate declaration and comfort. For me and my life journey these words are a key and an anchor; something I have come to “know” in my Spirit as well as in my mind.

This song is a wonderful way to help memorise Scripture, and let it go deep into the heart.

LYRICS

Verse 1:

When you sit enthroned, in El Shaddai

You are hidden in the shadow of God Most High

You are now aware, from the Fowler’s snare

He will always deliver you

He’s the hope that holds you Stronghold to shelter you

The most faithful God, your confidence.

Verse 2: Angels He has charged, to keep your feet

Lest you dash your foot against a stone In their hands, they safely bear you up,

For you know His name, worship

Him alone Thousands fall around you

But, His love surrounds you

The most faithful God, your confidence.

Verse 3: He will rescue you, from your enemy,

For His arms roundabout, keep danger out

And in troubled times, then you will find,

The grace of the Lord is always kind. Serpents and lions,

You will chase away

Because God is near you will not fear

Night and day protected

Powers of hell deflected Because

God is near you will not fear.

Verse 4: He will set you high, before His face

Answer your cries, each time you pray

And in troubled times, then you will find

The grace of the Lord is always kind (always kind)

Yes, the grace of the Lord is always kind (always kind)

Yes the grace of the Lord, is always kind
