THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

This song was inspired by Psalm 24 and has been taken up effortlessly in congregations and conferences by people with a strong desire for advancing and consecrating their personal Kingdom journey.  It has been very popular wherever it has been introduced as the melody and song technics are uncomplicated with ease of flow and singability. It is a personal declaration, acknowledging the need for clean hands and a pure heart. We need a God-first ethos, with true, earnest love responding to His call. He wants first place, with no idols! This is especially poignant, as we know He is coming soon and wants a new level of purity and intimacy with His Bride.

Be blessed as you listen and are drawn in to the Celtic and lilting feel of this melodic song.

LYRICS

Verse 1:

My desire, is to ascend Your Holy hill

To live my life within Your presence

My desire, is to perform Your perfect will

To see your face, to hear Your voice.

Verse 2:

My desire, is that my first love be renewed,

So I can always bring you pleasure,

My desire is to fulfil my destiny

With Christ alone my highest treasure.

Chorus:

So cleanse my hands make my heart holy

Deal with idols deep within

Take this life, I now surrender

Consecrated to my King.

Verse 3:

My desire, is to stand in Your holy place

For my heart has heard You call me,

My desire, is to bring glory to Your name,

Faithful through what may befall me.

Chorus:

So cleanse my hands make my heart holy

Deal with idols deep within

Take this life, I now surrender

Consecrated to my King.

Bridge:

Who is this king this glorious king, the lord of hosts is He

Lift up your heads, oh you gates to the king of glory

Who is this king this glorious king, the lord of hosts is He

Lift up your heads, oh you gates to the king of glory

Verse 3:

My desire is to stand in Your holy place

For my heart has heard You call me

My desire, is to bring glory to Your name

Faithful through what may befall me.
